Warren Buffett is an American businessman.  He knows the techniques of investing very well.  He was interested in business from the age of seven.  As a child, he sold chewing gum, Coca-Cola bottles, and even door-to-door magazines.  And today?  According to the 2016 list of the richest people in the world, Warren Buffett is the second richest person in the world.  This former student of Columbia Business School in the United States has always given various advices to students and young entrepreneurs.  Here are 10 selected from his suggestions: -----

 1.  Be patient in bad times Warren Buffett has always advised patience in bad times.  He must have learned this lesson from his own life.  He has had to face economic recession many times in his life.  In 1993, he bought Dexter Schweizer for about কোটি 430 million.  Despite a 3.5 billion loss from that company in 2008, Warren Buffett did not lose patience.  "There are two sources of success," Warren said.  First formula: Never give up.  Second formula: The first formula can never be forgotten.  5.  Must read a lot. ১. খারাপ সময়ে ধৈর্য ধরুন ওয়ারেন বাফেট সব সময় খারাপ সময়ে ধৈর্য ধরার পরামর্শ দিয়েছেন। নিজের জীবন থেকেই নিশ্চয় এই শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করেছেন তিনি। জীবনে বহুবার অর্থনৈতিক মন্দার মুখে পড়তে হয়েছে তাঁকে। ১৯৯৩ সালে প্রায় ৪৩ কোটি মার্কিন ডলার দিয়ে তিনি ডেক্সটার শ্যুজ নামের একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান কিনে নিয়েছিলেন। ২০০৭ সালে সেই কোম্পানি থেকে ৩৫০ কোটি ডলারের লোকসান হলেও ওয়ারেন বাফেট ধৈর্য হারাননি। ওয়ারেন বলেন, ‘সফলতার দুটি সূত্র। প্রথম সূত্র: কখনো হার মানা যাবে না। দ্বিতীয় সূত্র: প্রথম সূত্রটা কখনো ভোলা যাবে না।’

২. লক্ষ্য ঠিক রাখুন ওয়ারেন বাফেট মনে করেন, যা করবেন তা পুরো মনোযোগ দিয়ে করা উচিত। ব্যবসার রোমাঞ্চে বুঁদ হয়ে আপনার ব্যবসায়িক বুদ্ধি হারালে চলবে না। সজাগ থাকতে হবে সব সময়। তিনি বলেন, ‘এমন ব্যবসায় বিনিয়োগ করবেন না, যা আপনি বোঝেন না।’ আপনার লক্ষ্য, আপনার মনোযোগ যেখানে একীভূত হবে, আপনি সেই দিকটিকেই ব্যবসার ক্ষেত্র হিসেবে বেছে নিন।

৪. সঠিক সঙ্গ বেছে নিন ‘এমন মানুষদের সঙ্গে সময় কাটান, যাঁরা আপনার চেয়ে দক্ষ। আপনার সহযোগীদের ব্যবহার যেন আপনার চেয়ে ভালো হয় এবং তা যেন আপনাকে প্রভাবিত করে।’ ব্যবসার ক্ষেত্রে এই হলো ওয়ারেন বাফেটের মূলমন্ত্র। তিনি মনে করেন, মানুষের সততা খুব বড় গুণ। সবার মধ্যে এই গুণ প্রত্যাশা করা ঠিক হবে না। অতএব, সেই মানুষগুলোকেই আপনার আশপাশে রাখুন, যাঁরা ব্যবসার ক্ষেত্রে সৎ। যাঁদের আপনি বিশ্বাস করতে পারেন। ওয়ারেন বাফেট দীর্ঘদিন ধরে তাঁদের সঙ্গেই ব্যবসা করেছেন, যাঁদের সঙ্গে তাঁর বোঝাপড়া ভালো।

৫. অনেক পড়তে হবে পড়ুয়া হিসেবে এই ধনকুবের ব্যবসায়ীর বেশ সুনাম আছে। অবসর সময়ের ৮০ ভাগ তিনি বই পড়ার পেছনে ব্যয় করেন। বিজনেস অ্যাডভেঞ্চার্স, দ্য এসেস অব ওয়ারেন বাফেট এবং দ্য ইন্টেলিজেন্ট ইনভেস্টর—তরুণ উদ্যোক্তাদের তিনি এই বইগুলো পড়ার পরামর্শ দেন। এইচবিওকে দেওয়া এক সাক্ষাৎকারে তিনি বলেন, এখনো দিনের পাঁচ থেকে ছয় ঘণ্টা তিনি বই পড়ার পেছনে ব্যয় করেন। তিনি বলেন, ‘প্রতিদিন অন্তত ৫০০ পৃষ্ঠা পড়ো। জ্ঞান হলো “চক্রবৃদ্ধি সুদ”-এর মতো। যত পড়বে, তত বাড়বে।’

৬. সমাজের জন্য কাজ করুন সমাজ থেকে আপনি যেমন পাচ্ছেন, তেমনি সমাজের জন্য কাজ করাও আপনার দায়িত্ব। ওয়ারেন বাফেট বলেন, ‘বহু বছর আগে একজন একটা গাছ লাগিয়েছিল বলেই আজ একজন সেই গাছের ছায়া পাচ্ছে।’ অতএব আপনার পূর্বসূরির অবদান ভুলে গেলে চলবে না। আপনি যদি ১ শতাংশ সৌভাগ্যবান মানুষের মধ্যে পড়েন, বাকি ৯৯ ভাগ মানুষের জন্য কিছু করা আপনার দায়িত্ব।

৭. অতীত ও ভবিষ্যৎ নিয়ে ভাবুন ব্যবসার ক্ষেত্রে অতীত ও ভবিষ্যৎ—দুটোকেই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বলে মানেন ওয়ারেন বাফেট। তিনি মনে করেন, ভবিষ্যৎটা পরিষ্কার দেখতে না পারলেও ব্যবসার ক্ষেত্রে আমরা তো আমাদের অতীতটা স্পষ্ট দেখতে পাই। সেটাই আমাদের ভবিষ্যতের সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে সাহায্য করবে। আবার তিনি এ-ও বলেন, ‘টাকা উপার্জনের এই খেলায় যদি অতীত ইতিহাসই সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হতো, তবে লাইব্রেরিয়ানরাই বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে ধনী মানুষ হতেন।’

৮. আপনার ‘নায়ক’ কে? আপনি কাকে অনুসরণ করছেন, সেটা খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। আপনি কার মতো হতে চান? খুব ভেবে এই প্রশ্নের উত্তর ঠিক করুন। ওয়ারেন বাফেট বলেন, ‘আমাকে বলো, তোমার চোখে “নায়ক” কে। আমি বলে দেব, তোমার ভবিষ্যৎ কী।’ অর্থাৎ আপনি কাকে আদর্শ বলে মানেন, সেটাই নির্ধারণ করবে আপনার ভবিষ্যৎ।

৯. বিশ্বাস থাকতে হবে ‘আমার বাবা আমার ওপর বিশ্বাস রেখেছেন। আমিও বিশ্বাস করি নিজেকে।’ দ্য গ্রেট মাইন্ডস অব ইনভেস্টিং বইয়ের ভূমিকায় এভাবেই লিখেছেন ওয়ারেন বাফেট। তাঁর দাবি, সব সময় তাঁর মধ্যে আত্মবিশ্বাস ছিল। বিফল হওয়ার কথা তিনি কখনো ভাবেননি। সফল হওয়ার দৃঢ় বিশ্বাস নিয়ে যা ভালোবাসেন, তা-ই করেছেন। তাঁর ভাষ্য, ‘কত টাকা আয় হচ্ছে বা কত লাভ হচ্ছে, এই হিসাবের চেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হলো নিজের ওপর বিশ্বাসটা অটুট আছে কি না।’

১০. ভুল থেকে শিখুন ওয়ারেন বাফেট যে জীবনে শতভাগ সাফল্য পেয়েছেন, তা নয়। তিনি ভুল করেছেন। এমনকি ব্যবসায়িক জীবনে তিনি বড় বড় ভুলও করেছেন। তবে ভুল থেকে তিনি শিখেছেন। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীদের জীবনের ভুলগুলো মনে রেখে তা থেকে শিক্ষা নেওয়ার পরামর্শ দেন ওয়ারেন বাফেট। তিনি মনে করেন, ভুলগুলোর কথা নিজের সন্তানদেরও জানানো উচিত। যেন তারা একই ভুল না করে।
